CdaMVvWgS

[edit]

CdaMVvWgS is the short name for a german club called Club der am Montag Vormittag vom Wahnsinn getriebenen Schüler (in English: Club of pupils who are crazy on Monday afternoon)

On the homepage (click here) you can get a free membership and lots of information about geography. And: you can download Poisoned for free! So, why you don't have a look at it? Only problem: it's all written in variated german (swiss german, variation of Basel)

Hello there CdaMVvWgS, welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. If you ever need editing help visit Wikipedia:How does one edit a page or how to format them visit our manual of style. Experiment at Wikipedia:Sandbox. If you need pointers on how we title pages visit Wikipedia:Naming conventions. If you have any other questions about the project then check out Wikipedia:Help or add a question to the Village pump. If you ever think a page or image should be deleted, please list it at the votes for deletion page. There is also a votes for undeletion page if you want to retrieve something that you think should not have been deleted.

It might be a good idea to write a little bit more then just the definition of a term, as we already have quite a lot of these stubs. It did just finish to enlarge the articles of the districts of Nauru to a size which make them more worth to keep. If you write such short articles you should at least add the stub warning boilerplate. andy 22:42, 27 Nov 2003 (UTC)

Hi, I noticed that you left a message at Image talk:Raaflaub.jpg asking for it to be deleted. Please list it at Wikipedia:Images for deletion if you still want it deleted. Perhaps you should wait until you understand these deletion processes a bit more before applying for adminship? Angela. 21:57, Feb 22, 2004 (UTC)

Pronunciation of Basle

[edit]

At http://www.m-w.com/cgi-bin/dictionary?book=Dictionary&va=basle you will find that the older English pronunciation which corresponds to the older spelling is [ba:l] rather than [ba:sl] (which is what you wrote) or [ba:zl] which is the more modern English rendering corresponding to the endonymic spelling. --Akkolon 09:59, 30 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

Nauru election

[edit]

Thanks for your message. I got the figures for the last Nauru election from an American diplomat in Fiji who sent them to me. I don't know if I'll be able to contact him again. If you have any sources in Nauru please let me know. Adam 14:59, 3 Oct 2004 (UTC)

I don't now recall his name or address, except that he was at the US Embassy in Fiji. Apparently they monitor elections in the Pacific. Adam 23:03, 3 Oct 2004 (UTC)

I also know someone at the Australian National University who specialises in the Pacific and has sent me election statistics from Vanuatu in the past. I will ask him if he has any sources for Nauru. Adam 09:22, 4 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Yes, I have any knowledge about this pretty country (not so many as you of course), but I am very interested in Nauru, Kiribati, Palau, Tuvalu, , Italy, Belgium and Moldova. Belgian man 18:45, 4 Oct 2004 (UTC)

PS: Maybe have you seen my contributions at the German wiki (for link: go to my page), but I am not sure they are good ==> I speak German very bad...

Re Nauru elections, thanks very much, the results will be at my website soon. If you tell me your name I will of course credit you for supplying them to me. Adam 23:37, 28 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Baseldytsch Wikipedia

[edit]
Answer to first dot: No. Best proposal should be bds.wikipedia.org. Reasons you will get there. Answer to second dot: My proposal is to language of Basel-Town (the language of Basel-Land is not as especially as the Baseldytsch to have any reasons for a own wikipedia, as the Baseldytsch does...) -- CdaMVvWgS 23:00, 9 Nov 2004 (UTC)

The problem with Nauruan

[edit]

The problem with the Nauruan wikipedia and wiktionary is, that MANY people have the feeling that it is not Nauruan but something else. One thing that is telling is that for the Nauruan word for Nauruan "Nauruose" only can be found on wikipedia.

The fact that you are from Switserland, does also not provide us with confidence that these sites have not been squatted. So plain and simple there is a need of some objective proof that the information on the na: wiktipedia and wiktionary IS in the Nauruan language.

Thanks, GerardM 18:43, 9 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Maybe you should check Google.com and search for "nauruan dictionary", there you'll find a link to trussel.com which contains a big nauruan-english-german dictionary. Then you should have the proof for the correctness of the nauruan wikipedia/wiktionary contents. Greets -- CdaMVvWgS 22:56, 9 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Hello, CdaMVvWgS. You have today asked a question on my User Talk Page. I did do half a dozen small anonymous edits in the Nauru WP (though some of my "edit summaries" hinted that it was me), using words that were already there (not trying to check them in any way). Then I decided to simplify things by signing up properly. I think everything I've done since then has had my name on it (and I know I've used no Maori words). I remember noting (after a dig through some page histories) that someone was abusively (and unconstructively) criticising the alleged use of non-Nauruan words. So I checked some of those "trussel" pages and created links to them, to make it easier for you and me and anyone else to do a quick check if in doubt. The "trussell" looks to me to be more reliable than the recent contributor who complains that everything is wrong but does not bother to fix any or to tell the rest of us what is wrong. We shall see if anyone responds to my request that the mistakes (if any) be fixed up. I've repeated, on na:User_talk:Belgian_man, what we all seem to agree about. Kind regards. (I don't remember seeing the Nauruan Wiktionary.) Robin Patterson 05:57, 16 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Article Licensing

[edit]

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 2000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:

Option 1
I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

OR

Option 2
I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)

Unverified images

[edit]

Hi! Thanks for uploading the following image:

I notice it currently doesn't have an image copyright tag. Could you add one to let us know its copyright status? (You can use gfdl if you release it under the GNU Free Documentation License, fairuse if you claim fair use, etc.) If you don't know what any of this means, just let me know at my talk page where you got the images and I'll tag them for you. Thanks so much. Peter O. (Talk, automation script) 04:38, Dec 11, 2004 (UTC)

P.S. You can help tag other images at User:Yann/Untagged_Images. Thanks again.

[edit]

Hello CdaMVvWgS, thank you for your voting.

If I understand correctly, you voted from English Wikipedia and German Wikipedia. As you know, every voter have only one vote by person. You can vote from anywhere you have over 400 edits, but you have to choose one project from which you would vote.

I stroke the older vote from German Wikipedia and left the latest one. If you would like to change your vote again, please vote from the wiki you have voted last time.

Your reply on my meta talk page will be appreciated.

Thank you!

Hi, I was hoping that you would be able to add some information on why the images you have on photobucket and that have subequently have been uploaded to the commons are PD. Are they yours or did you get permission to use them from someone? Thanks--nixie 05:11, 5 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Tennis walkover article

[edit]

Hi! I'm not really familiar with the rules and formalities of tennis, but isn't "walkover" applied to a match which didn't even start. That is, when a player forfeits/withdraws even before he/she enters the court. For example, the case of Kutuzova against Clijsters in 2006 Wimbledon. In such a case, since the match didn't even start, then it is not counted as a loss for the player who withdrew, and a win for the other player. On the other hand, the one cited in the article is related more on retirement. That is, when the match has already started and a player cannot continue. It is not really addressed as a walkover, but a retirement. For example, when Henin-Hardenne retired in the Australian Open final. In such a case, since the match started, any win-loss record or head-to-head count is affected. What I'm asking is whether there is a conflict in the title of the article versus the definition found in it. --Joey80 07:37, 30 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

To my knowledge it is also called "walkover" when a player cannot continue during the match. I've read this form many times in newspapers, for example "6:4, 2:6, 3:1 w.o.", when a player is ahead in the third set, but cannot continue due to injuries or whatever, as you said above. Likely it's also called "walkover" when a player withdraws before the match begins, but I don't know it that exactly... Greetings -- CdaMVvWgS 18:12, 30 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Il Grande Rock

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Il Grande Rock, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the dated prod notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add db-author to the top of Il Grande Rock. Fair use rationale for Image:Lorne_Berfield_at_Masters_of_the_Maze.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Lorne_Berfield_at_Masters_of_the_Maze.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Project FMF (talk) 23:11, 31 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:KKB-logo.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

 • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
 • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

I can understand why you moved it, except for the fact that I can't see how Gounod's 'original' piece is particularly notable. Image permission problem with Image:Aiwo.jpg

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Aiwo.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the image (or other media file) agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

 • make a note permitting reuse under the GFDL or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
 • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the image to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the image has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the image's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Images lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ▫ JohnnyMrNinja 18:10, 13 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. Dabwido's birth date

[edit]

Hi. Could you let me know how you found what Sprent Dabwido's birthdate is? And Freddie Pitcher's too, for that matter? Do you know people in Nauru, or know people who know them? I can't find any (online) source providing their birth dates. (The main reason why I ask is because I wrote the articles about them in the French Wikipedia, without birth dates because I couldn't find any source. Somebody then added them from the English Wikipedia, leading me to look and see who had first added them to the English Wiki.) If there's a verifiable source that can be referred to, that would be great; information about Nauru is fairly hard to come by! Thanks in advance. Aridd (talk) 23:16, 15 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Alice Parker requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://melodiousaccord.org/biography. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Your draft article, Draft:Philip Cowen

[edit]

Hello, CdaMVvWgS. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or draft page you started, "Philip Cowen".

Lux Aurumque

[edit]

What you added to Lux Aurumque is great but looks like original research (WP:OR). Do you have a independent source? -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:53, 5 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The composer himself. You may compare the mentioned chords "natum" and "Qui pas-" and hear by yourself that they are identical. -- CdaMVvWgS (talk) 18:11, 5 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Ludwig Keke's partial term

[edit]

@CdaMVvWgS: Hello. I noticed you had a useful page which documented a lot of Nauruan parliamentary history. Thank you for making this. There is one question I had about it though: it says that in the 2nd parliament, Ludwig Keke served a partial term. I was digging through the government gazettes to find info about this, and I found the results of a by-election for the Yaren Constituency in 1972. Keke runs in this election, which does imply that he did indeed serve a partial term. Its weird that he would run however, considering he won a seat in the normal 1971 election, meaning he should have already had a seat in parliament. I wanted to ask you if you knew anything about why Keke seems to have lost his seat in the 2nd parliament and if you have any sources about it. I know this is kind of unlikely, but I would very much appreciate the help if you're able. RoundSquare (talk) 02:16, 9 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
